On the morning of October 13th, 2012, Morphy Auctions will be hosting an auction consisting of a multitude of firearms, highly collectable knives and other edged weapons, armor, and various military memorabilia. The auction will include roughly 300 gun lots, 350 knife lots, and 100 lots of various military related pieces.

The auction will kick off with various modern military firearms including an Eddystone Model 1917 .30-06 rifle Lot 1 (est. $600.00-$800.00), a Springfield Model 1903 .30-06 rifle Lot 2 (est. $600.00-$800.00), A Springfield Armory M1 Garand Lot 9 (est. $800.00-$1,000.00),  a Smith-Corona 1903-A3 .30-06 rifle Lot 10 (est. $750.00-$1,000.00).  Then, moving into several WWII era hand guns including Mauser P-38’s Lot 13 Lot 14, Luger pistols including an S42 9mm Lot 15 (est. $1,200.00-$1,600.00), and a model 1917 DWM 9mm Lot 16 (est. $800.00-$1,000.00), as well as a Colt 1911 Ace conversion .22 Pistol Lot 17 (est. $800.00-$1,200.00).

The auction then moves into a myriad of hunting, target shooting, and “parlor” rifles, as well as various hand guns. Long gun highlights include a Winchester Model 90 .22 short rifle Lot 49 (est. $1,000.00-$1,500.00), a Winchester Model 70 Pre-64 in .257 Roberts Lot 72 (est.  $1,000.00-$1,500.00), a Mannlicher Schoenaeur model 1903 in 6.5 X 54mm Lot 101 (est. $750.00-$1,200.00) a Winchester Model 1895 30-40 rifle Lot 167 (est. $1,500.00-$2,200.00), a Winchester model 64 in .219 zipper rifle Lot 171 (est. $1,500.00-$2,000.00).  Various other modern rifle lots include Lot 23, Lot 24, Lot 30, Lot 52, Lot 73, Lot 74, Lot 88, Lot 122, Lot 133, Lot 172, and Lot 180.

Featured modern hand gun lots include a wonderful collection of factory “C” and “D” level engraved colt pistols with factory papers including a Colt Diamond Back .22 revolver Lot 185 (est.$3,000.00-$4,000.00), 2 Colt Pythons w/ 6in. barrels Lot 186 (est.$3,000.00-$4,000.00), Lot 187 (est.$3,000.00-$4,000.00), and a Colt Pthon w/ 4in. barrel Lot 188 (est.$3,000.00-$4,000.00).  There is also a blued Colt Python w/ 6in. barrel Lot 193 (est. $1,200.00-$1,800.00), a Colt SAA w/ 7 1/2in. barrel .45 revolver w/ factory papers Lot 189 (est. $1,800.00-$2,500.00), a Colt SAA w/ 4 3/4in. barrel .45 revolver w/ factory papers Lot 190 (est. $1,800.00-$2,500.00), and a Colt SAA “Buntline Special” w/ 12in. barrel revolver w/factory papers Lot 191 (est. $1,500.00-$2,500.00).  Various other modern hand gun lots include Lot 43, Lot 45, Lot 69, Lot 70, Lot 141, Lot 142, Lot 181, Lot 182, and Lot 183.

We then move into Modern shotguns.  Featured lots include a Parker V Grade 12GA. Double barrel shotgun Lot 194 (est. $800.00-$1,200.00), an A.H. Fox CE Grade 20GA. Double Barrel shotgun Lot 195 (est. $4,500.00-$6,500.00), an SKB Model 385 20-28GA. shotgun w/ case Lot 196 (est. $2,500.00-$3,500.00), and a Winchester Model 12 Skeet shotgun in 16GA Lot 203 (est. $1,500.00-$2,500.00).  Other shotgun lots of interest include, Lot 197, Lot 211, Lot 217, Lot 223, and Lot 224.

After the completion of modern guns, we move into antique guns with a wide range of handguns, as well as shotguns and rifles.  Notable lots include a Colt Lightning Express Model rifle in .38-.56 cal. Lot  257 (est. $2,000.00-$3,000.00), a Minneapolis Protector .32cal Palm Pistol Lot 260 (est. $700.00-$1,000.00), a Kentucky Rifle signed “J. Thomas” Lot 284 (est. $7,500.00-$10,000.00), and a U.S. Springfield .69 Model 1816 musket featuring beautiful silver inlays Lot 305 (est. $4,000.00-$6,000.00).  Other lots in this section of interest include Lot 256, Lot 258, Lot  270, Lot 277, Lot 281, Lot 283, and Lot 298.

We then switch gears and move into various lots of military memorabilia ranging anywhere from a decorated wooden drum Lot 347 (est. $600.00-$800.00) to photos and tin types of civil war era soldiers, Lot 375, Lot 376.

The last portion of the auction will consist of over 300 lots of knives and other edged weapons, including a large portion of select knives from the Bob Wentz collection.   With so many wonderful pieces, there is sure to be something to interest collectors across multiple fields.  Everything from military bayonets and officer’s ceremonial daggers, swords of various types, early American sheath and pocket knives, to camping axes makes an appearance.  There are 60 lots of choice Marbles brand knives and axes to be had.  The star of the show for the knife portion is a Thomas Griswold Confederate Bowie knife.  The knife in question was featured in Norm Flayderman’s, “The Bowie Knife”, on page 242.  This Bowie is a wonderful example of the knives of the day, Lot 437 (est. $20,000-$30,000).
