Tommy Sage Jr.'s December Auction Train Review

The December 2009 auction will feature a several consignor train collection with a vast number of trains coming straight from the original owners and major collections. The train lots include Lionel Post and Pre-war, American Flyer Pre-war and S-Gauge, Ives Standard and O-Gauge, Voltamp, Beggs Live Steam and many others.

In the Golden Lionel Standard Gauge section there is a Stephen Girard Passenger set in the Set Box (lot 3179), and an orange No. 9 Passenger Set (lot 3180). Very early Lionel in this sale includes a No. 53 Passenger Set (lot 3181), a Thin Rim No. 6 Passenger Set with knobby roofs (lot 3182), plus a Lionel No. 110 Trolley in its original box (lot 3183). There is also a Voltamp United Electric Trolley in its original wooden box (lot 3186), which is sure to grab attention. You will also see some early German trains including two stations (lot 3199lot 3200) and a nice set of 3 Marklin Guage-1 Rheinuferbahn Cars (lot 3201). Don’t miss the nice American Flyer boxed Circus Set S-Gauge (lot 3096). There is also a rare Lionel Sears Military Set (lot 3083), a boxed Lionel Lackawanna Freight Set (lot 3085) and a mint Lionel Budd RDC Passenger Set in the set box (lot 3086). If you are looking for a great Ives set, the sale highlight is an Ives O-Gauge 1694 Passenger Set in the original set box, which is one of only a few known in the set box.

“Personally I think the Boxed No. 110 (lot 3183) is a interesting piece because it has the original box, track and packing straw and this is something you never see.” Check out the December online catalog for more details.
