Step 2 - Consignment
After your valuation, you will be contacted by a Morphy’s representative. Then you will be asked to sign a contract and arrange shipment or pick-up of your antiques or collectibles. If you are not able to deliver or ship the items, we will make suitable arrangements to have the goods picked up. At this time we will also provide details on upcoming sale dates and commission rates, and answer any additional questions you may have regarding consignment.
Step 3 - Inventory/Insurance/Storage
Once we have your items in our possession, they will be fully insured for the amount of the higher presale estimate until the day they transfer to the new owner (auction buyer). After receipt of your consigned goods, we will have them tagged and inventoried, and our Consignments team will mail you a list for your records. This process ensures the proper documentation and tracking of your antiques or collectibles. Prior to the auction, your items will be stored in our museum-grade shelving and storage units to ensure the security and handling of your consignments.
Step 4 - Cataloging/Photography/Printing
We employ the foremost experts in the industry who will provide unbiased descriptions and estimates for your auction consignments. When it comes to highly specialized niche categories, we enlist the services of noted authorities whom we consider to have the greatest knowledge and best reputation within their given field in order to ensure accurate and trustworthy descriptions. Our team of catalogers, graphic designers and on-site photographers will then produce professionally designed, full-color brochures and hardbound catalogs showcasing your consignments to their very best advantage.
Step 5 - Marketing
We will customize a marketing, advertising and distribution plan to assure maximum consumer participation and worldwide exposure for your consignments. Brochures and catalogs will be mailed to top buyers and collectors based on category of interest to maximize the selling power of your consignments. A media campaign will be devised in conjunction with the marketing campaign, targeting popular antique trade magazines and other influential media outlets. In order to assure widespread publicity of the sale of your items/collection in the most influential antiques trade and collector publications, we call upon our well-established contacts at major media outlets. Morphy’s will also be promoting your consignments through morphyauctions.com, our state of the art Web site.
