Antique & Collectible Advertising  Specialists

Gary and Mary Pat Metz

Gary and Mary Pat Metz work together with Morphy Auctions as consultants after joining the team in May of 2006.
Their primary functions are to gather consignments for the firm, with their specialty being in advertising, country store, soda fountain, soda pop, and Coca-Cola.

Gary and Mary Pat also represent the firm at shows around the country and Gary provides catalog descriptions on much of the advertising material in each Morphy auction.

And, of course, they help to staff the actual auction events at Morphy, roughly every other month. Since 1988, Gary has been a full time dealer in those categories and more. In 1991 he established his own auction firm, which operated until April of 2006.  He did business under the name of Muddy River Trading Co. and later, Metz Superlatives Auction. Over 16 years in the auction business, he was based in Roanoke, Va. and held 29 catalog auctions, selling over $15,000,000.00 in merchandise for hundreds of satisfied consignors.

In 2000, his wife Mary Pat joined him full time in the business.  Today they are still based in Roanoke, Va., and welcome your inquiries at any time.  They are just part of the extensive Morphy Auctions Staff who are willing to travel to view and arrange transport of your items or collection for presentation in a future auction.  Call them when the time comes for your items to receive the best in professional auction presentation!

Antique & Collectible Dolls Specialists

With more than a half-century of experience between them, both Becky and Andy began dabbling in dolls and toys while still in their teens. A Massachusetts native, Becky was introduced to dolls while assisting her mother, a part-time dealer who set up regularly at Brimfield. Previously, Becky was a doll consultant for Bertoia Auctions. Later, she would play a key role with Noel Barrett Auctions.

Andy started in the auction business at age 15, earning his stripes at Apple Tree Auctions in Newark, Ohio. Upon turning 18, he secured his auctioneer’s license and began calling sales for the company as an apprentice auctioneer.

 Andy & Becky Ourant

At age 21, Andy was hired by Skinner in Boston, where he spent three years as co-head of the toy and doll department. From there, his career path took him to Bertoia’s and, most recently, to Noel Barrett.

Andy spent six years as an Antiques Roadshow toy, doll and teddy bear appraiser. He and Becky – with whom he has worked for 10 years and to whom he has been married for seven years – co-own and operate Village Doll & Toy Shop in Adamstown, Pa. Contact Andy & Becky for your Doll consignments at dolls@morphyauctions.com.
